"Generic host process for win32 services encountered a problem and needed to close"
Hello,
Lately I've been getting "Generic host process for win32 services encountered a problem and needed to close" errors. It happens after the computer has been up for a while (usually while I'm working with internet explorer, but I'm not sure there is a connection to it because I almost always work with it...). When the error pops, if I click it - the computer stops responding completely and I need to shut it down manually.
I'm not completely sure but I suspect the problem started after I installed Avira Premium Security Suite (I had a previous version of Avira antivirus before).
What can I do??
I'd appreciate your prompt reply. Thank you very much!6 people need an answerI do too

I am having the same problem when up in IE 7, which I have to use IE 7 for on line schooling. The mouse does not lock up, but I can not get any program+to close or open, nor can I get Task manager to come up using CTRL + ALT + DEL. The error message
comes up and I reported it tonight, it has just started doing this over the past few days. I had upgraded to Norton Internet Security 2010, I suspected that the program was causing this, it used to not give an error message and it seem to do it when Norton
was doing it's updating. I have taken all Norton products off of my PC and have loaded AVG in, the performance seems to be a lot better, however tonight I got the Generic Win 32 has encountered a problem message, and had to shut down manually.
How can this get fixed?
Thank you for your advice.

When you removed Norton, did you also run the Norton Removal Tool to get rid
of the dross it tends to leave behind?

(I hate the Norton website almost as much .... no, MORE than the Norton
products!)
Is the Windows Firewall switched on? - are Exceptions allowed or not? (they
should be)

Try changing monitors. I had the same problem found out the monitor was installed as a generic monitor with drivers that were not compatible with the operating system. It could be any device that is installed as generic with drivers that are not compatible
